Big Steps

We have decided to begin homeschooling Ivy part time. I wasn't even sure that part time would be an option, but I contacted our district enrollment office and it is available to us. Every single person that I have talked to within the district has been extremely supportive and helpful.

Reasons why we are wanting to pull her out of school part time
  • She is exhausted by Wednesday and normally crying when she gets in the car to go home. Her school is from 840 - 315 most days of the week, with them getting out an hour early on Mondays.
  • Her schoolwork that she is bringing home in her backpack seems to be busy work like coloring sheets and dittos
  • We would rather have her learning something at home with us, instead of biding her time doing things that don't really interest her until it's time to go home

Ok, I'm tired. I'm going to go pull the blinds and take a bath. I'll post our reasons for keeping her in school part time tomorrow.

Friend of mine homeschools and she says that she likes going faster than they do at the public schools. That her kids would get bored and act out in class, while they waited for the slower kids to catch up.

No offense to the kids who take longer to catch up, but for those of us who are above-average, it's boring. Glad to hear you're taking the bull by the horns. :)
