Another thaw. Another flooded basement. By the time I got to it, there was about an inch of standing water over half of the floor. This was around 11 this morning. Thankfully, we are still renting at this point, so fixing it isn't our problem. But dealing with the effects are our responsibility.
I have honestly shop vacuumed 112 gallons of water off of the floor, probably more since I lost count. When I first starting vacuuming, I had to re-do spots every 2 minutes as they were getting soaked through. The tub for the shopvac is 12 gallons. Um, I never realized how heavy 12 gallons are. Add to that going up and down the stairs with sopping wet HEAVY towels, and I am exhausted tonight. At this point it has slowed to me changing towels every 45 minutes. Joy.
I'm not sure if the slow down is due to the temp. drop at night or the fact that possibly everything has thawed.
I hope that I'm not doing this tomorrow. I hurt all over.

Ouch! on all accounts -- the day spent cleaning up the water, carrying 12 gallons at a time, the endless trips.... it all sucks! I am so sorry!
