lucky

do you ever think that sometimes a person's misfortune can become something fortunate for others?

I've been thinking about this lately because of something that is happened this week.

My aunt and uncle have one child that is out of college. My aunt is desperate for grandchildren. My cousin isn't even dating anyone right now, so there really isn't any light at the end of the tunnel on that issue for a while.

I believe that out of this keen desire of my aunt's, my children benefit immensely. This past week she has taken Ivy shopping for her birthday and took her out to dinner. This weekend her and my uncle took Ives and Bec for the afternoon, which then turned into overnight until 10 the next morning.

My kids love spending time with them. They love spending time with my kids. I love that I get a break and that everyone else is happy.

Just this morning, my uncle called and told me that the next time I have an electrical problem, to call him first. I had paid an electrician 80 bucks for about 10 minutes of work and my uncle had heard about it. He said that he could have fixed it for less than 5. I wonder if he would also be willing to remove and was and replace my outdoor furniture covers.

Apart from knowing that my aunt and uncle love me, I know that they are needing to be needed right now. And boy, could I use some help at times!

Love this! I wish people in the church would realize this is the important of being in multigenerational groups instead of segmenting people into "young marrieds" and "singles" and "empty nesters." There is a reason we are all in different seasons of life. If we work together, the different seasons can end up blessing each other. :)
