Thanksgiving in April

So, guess what we are having for dinner tonight? Probably from my title, you already know.

Chris gets a turkey for the holidays from his work. But we never want turkey then, since we have had turkey so much. Last week, Chris asked if we still had the frozen turkey from Christmas, and of course we did, so I pulled it out, put it in the fridge to defrost. Out of all of the days this week, tonight was the only night I could make it work, so, it is a Friday Feast!

I got stuffing mix, potatoes already done, and rolls. There weren't any pumpkin pies and I didn't feel like making one, so dessert is up in the air. As I'm typing this, I just remembered that I forgot cranberry sauce. Hmm. I wonder if we'll need it.

The funny thing about this is that I"m not stressed one bit! If this was the real Turkey Day, I'd be having a cow by now. But since it's just us, the tranquilizers are still in the cupboard! Isn't it weird how just by adding in more people, the whole meal would take on a totally different set of emotions for me. I'm loving Thanksgiving in April so far.

I even worked today! The turkey only has another 30 minutes to go.

If thirty-somethings can have prom, then I see absolutely nothing wrong with having Thanksgiving in April! Hope it was yummy.

Happy Thanksgiving in April ;)

you Supermom you!! Mitch's uncle moved to Australia 4 years ago and married Mitch's Aunty. For the first 2 years we had Thanksgiving at their house...traditional thanksgiving food is awesome! stuffing yourself silly for an "occasion" is always nice too ;)

Some people here in Australia do "Christmas in July"...obviously so they can enjoy the experience of a cold christmas with a steaming hot christmas lunch/dinner etc. A true Australian Christmas meal usually involves fresh prawns, cold pre-prepared ham/turkey/pork/chicken, cold salads and for the lucky ones sitting in air conditioning or hanging out in the pool with the family.
