I know that there are "counters" or maybe they are called something else, that show you who is actually looking at your blog.
Do any of you guys use something like this? If so, would you recommend it?
My counter doesn't seem to work half of the time and I like to keep track!

Do you mean like a referral thing, that tells you from which address people found your blog? Say, they found you through google and it would say that this visitor came from www.google.com? Or do you mean an actual counter??
As far as I know (and I could be wrong here), but I don't believe that google (blogspot) has a referral tool that you can use on their site. However, typepad does. But I know you can have counters. My counter at my blogspot page was really wonky. I think that it only counted each viewer one time. So say if you came to my page daily to read, it wouldn't count you after the first time that you had been there; it was only counter new viewers.
Anyway, I know I totally rambled on and on and probably didn't make a speck of sense. *heh*
i have a sitemeter on both of my blogs, and it gives me a hit count, plus tells me things like referrals, locations, etc. it's free and easy to install on blogger. i've been pretty happy with it. occasionally it's gone down over a weekend, but it's really been quite reliable.
I use StatCounter.com.
Now you can label IP Address.
So when you comment on my blog, I've been able to pinpoint you from the time. And I've labeled your IP.
I use Site Meter and Stat Counter, I like them both.
