Rant

Becken had his last soccer game tonight. One side of Becken's family has been missing from every single game and practice. It's not that they forgot, they are reminded weekly. It's not that they don't like sports. In fact, I had hoped that this would make it easier for them to be involved. I thought that Bec actually calling one member on the phone and personally inviting them to the games would bring them out. Nope. I was hoping tonight being the last game, they would be there. Nope. Let's say that if watching your grandson play soccer was comparable to researching group health insurance, I might be able to understand.
Whatever. My family has made every game in some sort of configuration. Tonight Bec's cheering section had 12 members, not including his dad who had to work. It makes a difference. The kids remember.

I'm not even Becs family, but if I would have lived closer I would have even made the games. They really are little for only a short time and you can't bring those days back. Sending my love your way.

I totally get it. And you're right, they DO remember. I've had moments where I just wanted to cry for my kids.
