Little Miss Ballerina

I don't think that this kid will be needing any lipovox soon.

Last weekend was Miss Ivy's 2nd dance recital. Ivy and and her feelings about dance class are really hit and miss. She either loves it or hates it. She liked it better last year, but I think that her and her teacher got along better. This year, I don't think that her and her new teacher like each other very much.

Every time before she dances, I get a huge knot in my stomach. Last year, I was only nerves. No bones, no skin, no muscles. Just plain nerves. And she did perfectly! I was so amazed.

On Friday they had their dress rehearsal and I was feeling ok, but pukey. She was doing well. We get to watch the other dancers and we were having a good time. But her class was in the program pretty late. She hadn't had a nap that day and her snack was not keeping her full. When she left me to get with her class, she was fine. When she came out on stage, she was BAWLING. Open mouthed, loudly, bawling. She didn't go to her place and stood right in front of another little girl and cried the whole time. I felt so bad for that other girl's mom. I hope that she wasn't trying to video.

Well, we had talk after talk all night long and all of the next day of what you do when you perform in front of an audience. (I hope that I'm not sounding too stage mommy here) Chris and I kept drilling her about her show that night, smiling and doing what you are supposed to.

Now this recital is a big deal. It is held at our large classic theatre in town that seats an insane amount of people with main areas and 2 balconies. They charge for tickets. There is a program. Ivy had at least 20 relatives in the audience. Chris and I were about to ditch her part because we could barely watch. But, we tried to have faith.

When her class came out, who came out smiling and waving like the princess of the parade? Yep, Ivy Wyn! That sweetpea ruled the stage! We were cracking up. We were so proud! She did it, just like we knew that she could. After the show, relatives were coming up to us and asking, "Who's kid was that?" We were all so shocked that she did what she was supposed to.

We ordered a professional dvd of the show so I'll try to upload her part of it to share with you guys.

Oh, and Bec sat on our laps and plugged his ears the whole time! Unless he was doing his Stevie Wonder dance. For some reason, he always dances with his eyes closed! It's weird.

Ivy is just beautiful K....

I'm glad it went well. I get so nervous for Chan too when he has to "perform" or do stuff in front of class. Luckily, he hardly notices.

Bec is a character isn't he? Plugging his ears...
