Take pity on my feet

I won't tell you that my heels are disgusting. Whenever I have a client that has an issue with a body part, I try to have them direct love and appreciation to that area. To not be so harsh on a part of themselves.

Well, my poor feet need some help. I have used pumice, pumice like stuff on a stick, and finally one of those tools that looks like a mini grater. I have used salves, oils, lotions. I soak them every night. But they still need help. This summer has been rife with splits and cracks that bleed when I'm walking. They really are trying to tell me something...

Any recommendations to help pamper my fully functioning, full of beauty and grace, feeties?

I have horribly dry and cracked heels too! I think this may be an Australian brand so won't help you in the slightest....but I find "Eulactyl Heel Balm" works well. Giving them a good scrub (I just use a cheap exfoliating glove with some body wash), applying moisturiser and then putting cotton socks straight on does wonders for my feet.....I am however slack and I only maintain said routine for a week at most....so my heels will improve greatly but then revert back again! Eulactyl make cotton socks designed to be put on once you've moisturised your feet.

Though Eulactyl is wonderful I don't think what you use is the most important part...just that you are exfoliating, moisturising and protecting your feet each evening...in my own experience anyway! Something kinda sticky like a Medihoney or PawPaw moisturiser seems to work a little better for me (Eulactyl is kinda sticky) I think you need it to linger on the skin longer then you would on say your face...the sock then holds it there for the night and lets it be absorbed whilst your sleeping.

Hope that was even remotely helpful! lol.....if nothing else...I feel your pain! I particularly hate when the cracks get so deep they bleed AND itch....the itch is the worst as trying to scratch it is painful...but what can you do?!

I hate wearing socks in summer though!

Oh Karianne,
how I feel you pain! I have horrible heels too...I'm gonna start sending them some love vibes. I'm not sure of a specific product either, but I agree with Mummyb about being consistent.

What I'm doing now, which seems to be helping greatly (it won't completely heal until sandal season is over, in my experience) is soak my feet in a warm foot bath (add epsom or those fancy foo-foo foot stuff) every other evening for a good, long while: at least one episode of Good Eats.

Then I use my "tool", which isn't the cheese grater-thing, but more like a slicer. Perhaps we are talking about the same thing, but this tool actually shaves off layers of the really thick skin. Then I've been putting aquaphor liberally on my feet and quickly slipping on some cotton sockies. (I try to leave them on all night, but it doesn't happen often in the summer) This has really softened the calluses I have, and the shaver/slicer gets off the really soft calluses after they've soaked awhile. I see a huge difference since doing this over a month now.

I hope you find something that helps!

oh...and I wanted to add that my husband swears that my heels wouldn't be so dry if I was drinking enough water. I'm not sure I completely agree because I think I do drink adequate water, BUT I will give him theoretical credit because there is a bit of logic in there.

I got cracked heels from wearing flip-flops all over India which made me more conscious of the effect of flip-flops on my feet. I suggest flats or sneakers instead. You can also sleep with moisturizer/oil (burts bee's coconut foot oil) on your feet and socks.

YES! Okay, three things you need that are imperative.

1. Johnson's Foot Soap (or the Wal-Green's generic version)

2. 100% Cocoa Butter (no blends)

3. weeLuxuries Heel Sticks - I like Eucalyptus Mint

Use those things and you will be in foot heaven in no time! Promise!

Oh, I also love my "cheese grater" thingy for my feet. I file the particularly rough places after a Johnson's Foot Soap foot soak and it is a great combo. Try it!
