Well, it is almost the 24th here, so I thought that I'd put up a list of 24 things that are helping me to practice contentment recently. And the way that I feel tonight, this will be a great exercise to pull me out of the blahs.
1. Ivy finding a button at the playground yesterday
2. Trying 3 new recipes tonight for dinner and dessert. (I'll post my fave later)
3. My job at day care, working with mom, sister, brother, cousins, aunts, friends
4. My BFF Joe and our very hit and miss phone calls that are supportive to both
5. Bec only throwing pebbles the whole time at the park, no other activity for him
6. Slimfast smoothies with fruit and ice for breakfast
7. A stack of library books
8. MP3 player downloaded with the 10th Circle by Jodi Picoult
9. An invitation to an out of town art festival
10. Affirming friends that I work with at the Spa, no matter what.
11. My patients and our relationships that extend from the office
12. Not writing for sharespace this summer, what a great break!
13. Having vision insurance for the first time in 10 years
14. Clean sheets
15. Breezy days that cut the heat
16. A fall preview from Victorian Trading Company that has me feeling wistful
17. Tears that come easily after years of being stone faced, but wanting to cry
18. Starting my period for the first time in months (long story)
19. Correct med dosing
20. Pedialyte
21. Singing babies when they spontaneously burst into song
22. Charlie and Lola DVDs
23. Pen pals!
24. Feeling contentment, no matter how fleeting, on any given day.

I don't know if I have ever commented about your blog title, but I've always loved the name. "Practicing Contentment" To quote Wilber of Charlotte's Web "Good name!"
:) Thanks for 23! Yay! It made me smile. I'm glad!
What a great list! I love reading things like that!
I agree with Kelly -- I have never posted about your blog title, but I love it as well! It's a great reminder to work on that myself, everytime I read it!
I found you from Carrie's(my new cyber friend)blog. Loved the list. LOve the concept of 'practicing' contentment---as in being an active participant in finding it. I tend to be more of a 'wait-er' when it comes to things like that. I need to practice this more.
Love the part about Miss Ivy finding a button...and Bec playing with pebbles...oh, the simple joys of childhood.
Thanks for the list...it was GREAT as always.
what a great list!
i'll be interested in finding out what you think about The Tenth Circle. i just read it (and posted my review on my book blog).
i'm off to practice some contentment too. :o)
a great list!!
we love Charlie & Lola at our house too!
I say HOORAY for Pen Pals too! I'm so glad that YOU are MINE! :)
