Prom Dress Stories

Now, hopefully you could figure out that my dress is the first shown in the photos, with Ivy's being the one with butterfly wings.

The story behind my dress begins in Goodwill. That was where I started my search for the perfect dress for less than $75.00. Well, I went to Goodwill, then to a consignment shop by my house. No luck. Some really cute dresses, but none in my size. But all in my price range. So then I went to a consignment shop by my work that carries wedding dresses as well. Nothing. And if something was in my size, I didn't care for it, or it was way expensive. So I decided to do some more shopping at the same consignment place, but in the racks in the back.

Well, I found my dress shoved in one of the racks along with a bunch of jeans and sweaters. It didn't have a tag on it, but the cashier said that she thought that it was pretty cheap because the gal that had brought it in hadn't had it cleaned. It also didn't have a size tag on it, so I was really nervous when I took it to the dressing room. The gal had to help me zip it up but it fit! And the total? $28.00 + tax! Score!!

My friend Joanie made me an extra petticoat to make the skirt stand out more. I wanted it to be more "Prommy". She also hemmed it for me and added straps so if I end up lifting any of the kids, I'll be covered. It is now perfect. My shoes are a little iffy, light pink with tiny kitten heels, but I will probably end up being barefoot for most of the night. Hopefully no one will step on my toes.

Ivy's dress was very easy. The toy department at Target. Although her dress was almost as much as mine at $19.99. I hope that the dress survives until then. She loves wearing it. She puts it on, and I have to secure it with many safety pins. then she climbs on the chair, grabs her wings, flaps them and jumps off, flying.

I'm getting so excited for Saturday!!!

PS. I'm also getting a blemish on my forehead. This really is prom!

I love the dresses! They are so beautiful and princess-y!!

I got married barefoot (in a field) and it was perfect! So if you're barefoot - it's all good. :)

My daughters seemed to wear their dresses all the time. They loved to be princesses.
I used to walk barefoot all the time. There is nothing like walking on fresh cut grass or walking along the sea shore barefoot!
You two will look like two princesses.
Have a great weekend!

Beautiful dresses!

Loved the PS. What would Prom be without an adolescent blemish or two? It shows you're still young. :)
